Hello, I’m Emily Mitchell, Senior Director-Clinical Services, and it’s my privilege to welcome you to our newest Behavioral Innovations center in South Plano, TX. As a parent or caregiver of a child with autism, your journey is uniquely personal— marked by challenges, triumphs, and moments of profound joy. At Behavioral Innovations, we’re dedicated to being your trusted partner, providing a supportive and nurturing environment where your child can grow, learn, and thrive. Allow me to share a bit about myself, our center, and what drives my passion for serving the families of the South Plano community.

My Journey to our Plano ABA Center

I’ve been a part of the autism community in various ways since high school, and those experiences shaped my path. After earning my bachelor’s degree from the University of Tennessee – Knoxville and a master’s from Arizona State University, I officially began working in the field six years ago. Behavioral Innovations was my first BCBA position, and I’ve loved every moment of my journey here—from working directly with children as a BCBA to becoming a Clinical Director and now opening this amazing center in South Plano.

“The support I’ve received at Behavioral Innovations has been unmatched. The resources and focus on our clients allow me to be the best I can in my role. That’s why I’m so excited to bring these opportunities to families in South Plano, Plano, Richardson, Allen, and beyond.”

What Makes Our South Plano Center Special

When I think about what we’re building at Behavioral Innovations in South Plano, it’s not just a therapy center—it’s a community. Every aspect of this center is designed with your child in mind, from our bright, engaging therapy spaces to the individualized plans we create for each child.

We know that every child is different, which is why our therapy plans are tailored to meet your child’s specific needs and goals. Our approach focuses on developing communication, social skills, and everyday independence in ways that work for your family.

Moments That Inspire Me

One of the most rewarding parts of my job is seeing the joy that progress brings to families. I’ll never forget working with a child who struggled with transitions, making it challenging for the family to enjoy simple outings like going to a restaurant. Over time, through consistent ABA therapy and collaboration with the parents, we celebrated a huge milestone: the family enjoyed a peaceful dinner at their favorite local spot here in Plano. Moments like these aren’t just about therapy goals—they’re about creating a better quality of life for the entire family.

“It’s incredible to see parents light up when they’re able to do something they never thought possible, like taking a date night or enjoying a family outing. These moments are what make everything we do worthwhile.”

A Center Designed for Your Family

Our South Plano center is designed to make therapy feel approachable and effective for every child who walks through our doors. Whether your child is building communication skills or learning how to navigate social settings, we’re here to guide them every step of the way.

Why I’m Passionate About Serving the Plano Community

Plano is such a vibrant, family-friendly community, and I feel lucky to be part of it. Whether it’s collaborating with local schools, connecting families to resources, or simply being a familiar face to parents navigating this journey, I love knowing that we’re making a difference.

“My favorite part of this work is helping families achieve milestones that others might take for granted. Seeing parents beam with pride over their child’s progress reminds me why I chose this path in the first place.”
