Leading with Heart: My Journey with the BI Family

By Regine Booth, Area Director of Clinical Services

When I walked through the doors of Behavioral Innovations back in 2006, I could never have imagined the journey that lay ahead. At the time, we were a small, close-knit team—united by our shared passion for helping children with autism and supporting families who needed guidance, compassion, and hope.

Now, nearly two decades later, I’ve had the privilege of witnessing—and helping shape—an organization that has grown from humble beginnings to a thriving network of 100 centers across multiple states. That number isn’t just about buildings. It’s about the lives we’ve touched, the teams we’ve built, and the legacy we’re creating together.

Growth You Can Feel

One of the most powerful things about BI’s evolution is that, even as we’ve scaled, we haven’t lost our soul. We’ve stayed grounded in our mission to serve kids and families with excellence and empathy. The clinical standards are higher. The support systems are stronger. The talent we’ve brought in—wow. I’ve watched incredible clinicians grow into confident, compassionate leaders. Hearing them say that I’ve played a part in their journey is deeply humbling.

To know that I’ve made an impact—not just with our clients, but with the next generation of clinicians—is why I do this work. It’s what keeps me inspired, year after year.

The BI Culture: Rooted, Real, and Resilient

BI has always felt like family. We celebrate wins, support each other through challenges, and grow together. And when I say grow—I mean personally and professionally. I’ve grown as a clinician, as a leader, and as a person. I’ve learned how to coach with empathy, how to manage with accountability, and how to mentor in a way that creates ripple effects across regions and teams.

Our recent ACE conference was a full-circle moment. There was joy, laughter, gratitude. It reminded me of every late night, every tough case, every small breakthrough that led us here. We didn’t just build a company—we built a movement. And to be featured in the BI Empowered video alongside so many amazing people? That was a true honor. It reminded me how far we’ve come and how much heart we’ve poured into every step of the journey.

Legacy That Lasts

When people ask me why I’ve stayed at BI for so long, the answer is simple: because it matters. The work matters. The people matter. And I know we’re doing something bigger than ourselves.

Being part of the BI family has shaped me in ways I never expected. I’ve learned to lead with heart, to never stop learning, and to always believe in the potential of every child—and every teammate. That’s a legacy I’m proud to be part of.

And we’re just getting started.
