After-school Program

Social Skills Training

ABA therapy focuses on how children with autism behave and how they can develop skills and learn techniques that help them thrive at home, school and in public. Our social skills training is featured in a part-time program called Beyond the Bell. Social skills training can be highly beneficial for children with autism in several ways:

  • Enhances Communication Abilities: It helps improve verbal and non-verbal communication, making it easier for children to express their needs and understand others.
  • Improves Social Interactions: Training provides children with the tools to interact more effectively with their peers, fostering better relationships and reducing social isolation.
  • Increases Understanding of Social Cues: It aids in the recognition and interpretation of social cues like body language and facial expressions, enhancing their ability to respond appropriately in social situations.
  • Boosts Confidence and Reduces Anxiety: By developing their social skills, children with autism can gain confidence in their ability to navigate social environments, which can decrease anxiety related to social interactions.

Helping families transition to ABA

ABA Prep

We understand transitioning to ABA therapy can be daunting for you and your family, especially if you are new to it. At Behavioral Innovations, we’ve developed a program called the Bright Beginnings to support and guide you and your child before they start ABA therapy. Bright Beginnings will prepare your child for a successful start in ABA therapy services through:

  • Building foundational skills: We introduce essential ABA skills and concepts to your child and the rest of the family so you all can discover new skills while waiting to start therapy sessions.
  • Familiarizing you with the center: Your family will get to know the facility and its structure to make the transition smoother for everyone. Familiarizing kids with the center before starting sessions can help them feel more relaxed.
  • Attending weekly sessions: Once your kid gets accepted into the initiative, sessions start a couple of weeks after the assessment. Your child will meet with their professional weekly to continue working on their foundational skills until they begin their treatment program at the center.

My little man has only been there 1 month and has Exceled so much . My daughter has been at BI for almost a year now. This place has made all the difference in our home. She started there almost completely non-verbal and melting down at any change. Now she tries to regulate her feelings and hops up every morning saying “I got school!!”. The staff are, from top to bottom, some the the kindest and most patient people I have met. They truly seem like they care about their kids, and she loves them too (especially Miss Maddy). I will forever recommend this place to any parent struggling to find help.

My baby has only been here for a month and most of that time he was sick but I can see such an amazing change in him already. I was prompted to write this review today because of what I saw when I picked him up. Pure passion in the therapists and happiness in the kids they watch over. I can see the dedication the therapists have for our kids and it made me emotional, I was so reluctant to put him in ABA but after the progress I’ve seen in him and what I saw today I am more confident than ever that I made the right decision. He’s safe, he’s thriving and he has people that truly care for him in their own way watching over him, thank you Behavioral Innovations!
